Local pacification

 

         The auspicious act that removes ninety-eight, ninety-nine diseases and two hundred and three ailments of the Sri Lankan people is briefly called "Shanthikarma". These Shanthikarma are mostly performed on religious, traditional and cultural grounds. We can conclude that Shanthikarma is designed to eliminate the fear of inhumanity and disease that arises in the human mind. However, we can say that most Shanthikarma are performed based on the meaning of sacrifice.

                                                                                              Also, it is divided into three traditions as Upcountry, Lowland and Sabaragamuwa, and we can see the peace rituals that are unique to each tradition in different ways.


* Upcountry tradition; Kohoba Kankariya, Valiyap Mangalya, Kadawara Lankariya

* Pahatarata tradition; Devolmaduwa, Sanni Yakuma

* Sabaragamuwa tradition; Pahan Maduwa, Kiri Maduwa.

The peace rituals that are unique to each of these three traditions are peace rituals that are unique to each other.

          In addition to these peace rituals, we can also see peace rituals such as 

*Kolam

*Sokari

*Bali

*Suvisi Bhevarana

in Sri Lanka.

                Also, this Shanthikaram is performed based on many purposes.

1. To obtain physical and mental health

2. To obtain protection

3. To remove dangers such as flag, bandana, and veena. 

The following purposes are included in this Shanthikaram as a donation.

Also, we can say that this local Shanthikaram is an important aspect of Sri Lankan culture.

Also, another important part is included here. According to the style of each tradition, the elements of dance, music, and singing differ from each other, which is why we can say that Shanthikarama We can draw conclusions by studying the following.
