Ancient kings who ruled in Lanka

         When we look at the history of Sri Lanka, we can divide it into several eras. We can see many kings who ruled each era.

1. Kings who ruled during the Anuradhapura era

*Prince Vijaya = The first king of Sri Lanka. (543 BC)

*King Pandukabhaya = A king who founded the city of Anuradhapura.

*King Devanampiyatissa = The king who ruled when Buddhism came to Sri Lanka.

*King Dutugemunu = He fought with King Elara and won and unified the country.

*King Walagamba = He dedicated himself to building religious monasteries like Abhayagiriya and making the country self-sufficient through Buddhism a king.

2. Polonnaruwa Era

*King Vijayabahu Palamu = Liberated the country from the Chola invasion

*King Parakramabahu Palamu = Built large tanks and made the country self-sufficient, like the ''Parakrama Samudra''.

*King Nissankamalla = Built the country's economy.

  Similarly, we can take information from other eras such as the Kotte, Kandy, and Dabadeniya eras as evidence that kings such as King Parakramabahu VI, King Sri Wickrama Rajasinha, and Buwaneka Bahu reigned.
